When you say "this Monday" on Wednesday,
which day do you refer to?
Is it the pasted Monday this week?
Or the coming Monday next week?
I have been confused for a period of time.

Believe or not,
speakers of English will have different interpretations.
One of my classmate said it is the pasted Monday this week.
Another said it is the Monday next week.
Therefore, they made a conclusion that they need at least five sentences to figure it out. XD

To distinguish them, verb tense is very important.
For example, What did you do this Monday?
The past tense indicates the pasted Monday.
What will you do this Monday?
The future tense indicates the Monday next week.

In addition, 
People often say "On Ｍｏｎｄａｙ， I bra bra bra...."
It means the pasted Monday.
Or they might say " I went to a conference on the pasted Monday."
It sounds more clear.
　
In chinese, we can distinguish them very well.
Because there is no verb tense in Chinese,  
speakers of Chinese have to emphasis the time very clear.
For example, 上禮拜一，這禮拜一，下禮拜一．
Ｔhere are three directions to indicate the time, and they won't overlap.
